CHARGES have been filed against five policemen and several other unidentified individuals over the abduction of an online cockfight betting (e-sabong) agent in San Pablo City in Laguna last year, Philippine National Police (PNP) spokesperson Colonel Jean Fajardo said.

Fajardo said charges of serious illegal detention/kidnapping and robbery were filed before the Department of Justice against Daryl Paghangaan, Roy Navarete, Henry Sasaluya, Michael Claveria, Regil Brosas and several John Does.

The charges were filed by the relatives of missing Ricardo Lasco. They were assisted by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).

During a Senate inquiry, Lasco’s wife, Princess Montañez, and her sister, cousin and mother, identified Navarete and Paghangaan as among the 10 armed men who forcibly took Lasco from their residence.

Montañez said the suspects identified themselves as members of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), claiming that Lasco has a standing arrest warrant for estafa.

The suspects also allegedly took valuables from the house, including jewelries, gadgets and wallets and a vault containing cash.

Lasco is currently considered a missing person.

The CIDG is probing eight cases involving the disappearances of 34 e-sabong enthusiasts.

Earlier, the CIDG filed kidnapping charges against eight security personnel of the Manila Arena over the disappearance of six sabungeros in January. (SunStar Philippines)
