AAB-N highlights 'Semana Santa' in art exhibit

AS THE Catholic community observes the Holy Week, the Art Association of Bacolod-Negros (AAB-N) runs an art exhibit dubbed “Semana Santa” in front of the San Sebastian Cathedral.

The art exhibit opened last April 9 and it will end on April 17.

The opening was graced by business man Joemarie Sy, who loves to collect art pieces, as well as by AAB-N Past President Dolly Gatuslao and Rev. Frs. Chris Gonzales and Bineet Kerketta.

Tey Sevillano, one of the featured artists at the exhibit, said the event highlights the artworks of local artists that illustrate the life and suffering of Jesus Christ when he died by crucifixion.

Many artists have their connection with the art pieces focused on their subjects to include Jesus Christ, Mama Mary, and the 12 apostles, among others.

Artists who joined the exhibit were Jenevieve Abeto, Robert De Oro, Boggie Nuklar and Burog Alvarado, Bert Berondo, Maymay Camarines, Konica Faustino, Sony Golez, Ryn Paul Gonzales, Rez Galvez, and several others.

They thanked Bacolod Bishop Patricio Buzon for allowing them to use the front of the San Sebastian Cathedral as the venue of the exhibit.

Catholics who attend masses pass by the exhibit area to also see the many art pieces that are being displayed. For those who like to buy some of the art pieces, it is also being sold.
