Teodoro: PPP to help in infrastructure building, job creation

FORMER secretary of National Defense and senatorial candidate Gilbert "Gibo" Teodoro wishes to revitalize the public-private partnership (PPP) program of the government to continue the establishment of key infrastructures and generate more jobs.

Teodoro said in his interview with One News on Monday, April 11, that the next administration should continue investing in infrastructure that will improve the country’s connectivity and will also ease the movement of people and goods.

“Our physical infrastructure still has a lot of gaps that need to be filled. (But) in that sense, that is where the PPP procedure for infrastructure is there for,” Teodoro said, adding that those projects with reasonable rate of return for the proponent should be done under PPP.

The former Tarlac congressman and 1989 Bar topnotcher said the private sector has capital to invest in critical infrastructures, which addresses the limited resources of the government. He emphasized that this would also help to slow down the national debt.

Teodoro said as more infrastructure will be pursued through PPP, more jobs and livelihood opportunities will be created for Filipinos.
