Soldier, mechanic nabbed in anti-drug sting

A SOLDIER and a mechanic were arrested in an anti-drug operation in the province of Zamboanga del Sur, the police reported Monday, April 18, 2022.

Police Colonel Diomarie Albarico, Zamboanga del Sur police director, identified the arrested suspects as Private First Class (PFC) Nigel John Obuyes, 28, of the 1st Infantry Division’s Headquarters Service Battalion; and Joshua Tubigon, 30, a mechanic.

Albarico said the two suspects were arrested in an anti-drug operation around 4:15 p.m. at a pension house in Tiguma village, Pagadian city, the capital of Zamboanga del Sur.

Confiscated from the suspects were some P6,800 worth of suspected shabu packed in three heat-sealed plastic sachets, two driver’s license, a motorcycle, P1,000 marked money, and several illegal drug paraphernalia, Albarico said.

Albarico said the suspects were detained pending the filing of charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. (SunStar Zamboanga)
