MASANTOL mayoralty aspirant engineer Aguinaldo Guintu vowed to sustain the local government programs for the welfare of persons with disability (PWDs) if elected in the coming polls.
In particular, Guintu said he will continue and boost the programs initiated by his brother, term-ending Mayor and vice-mayoralty bet Danilo Guintu, which seeks to lighten the struggles in the daily lives of PWDs.
Among the flagship programs of Mayor Guintu during his nine-year administration was the opening of Lingap at Lugud Learning Center, an educational facility that will cater to the special needs of children with mild learning disabilities or profound cognitive impairment.
Masantoleño PWDs also regularly receive financial, medical and in-kind assistance, as well as facility aid such as wheel chairs under Guintu’s administration.
According to the mayoral bet, assistance to PWDs, especially via skills and cognitive development, is essential in empowering them as individuals and part of the community.
“Matagal na tayong kumakalinga at nagbibigay ng espesyal na atensyon sa ating mga kababayan na PWDs at kung tayo ay uupo bilang mayor, isasama natin sila sa pagsulong pa ng ating bayan Masantol,” he said.
He added that empowerment of PWDs and all sectors of the community is essential to achieve the true essence of inclusive governance.
If elected, Guintu said he will assure that quality healthcare will be accessible to all sectors, especially PWDs, through the construction of the community hospital.
“Ang isinusulong natin ay gobyernong para sa lahat: bata, matanda, ano man ang kasarian at estado sa bahay, at lalo pa sa mga nangangailangan ng tulong at maaabot lang natin ito kung lahat ay mabibigyan ng atensyon at pagkalinga, lalo na sa aspetong medikal dahil nasa ilalim pa rin tayo ng pandemya,” he said.
