Salva faces Galero in Bukidnon

SAMUEL Salva takes on fellow former world title challenger Jeffrey Galero in an eight-rounder on April 30, 2022 in Dangcagan, Bukidnon.

Salva is coming back from a two-year layoff. He hasn’t fought since the pandemic broke out in 2020. His last fight was a seventh round technical knockout of Donny Mabao in Jan. 19, 2021.

Salva fought for a world title in 2019, wherein he lost via a fourth round stoppage to Pedro Taduran in their International Boxing Federation (IBF) minimumweight title bout.

Salva is currently ranked No. 31 by the World Boxing Council (WBC) in the minimumweight division.

Galero, in the meantime, is coming off a longer layoff and hasn’t fought since his third round knockout loss to Daiki Tomita in Japan on April 7, 2019.

Galero is on a two-fight slump with his other defeat, a second round knockout in the hands of Taduran in 2018.

Galero challenged for a world title in 2015. He lost to then WBC minimumweight titleholder Wanheng Menayothin by unanimous decision in Thailand.

Salva is 18-1 with 11 knockouts, while Galero is 17-7 with eight knockouts.

In the undercard, journeyman Lito Dante (17-11-4, 9 KOs) trades leathers with battle-scarred veteran Ryan Ralozo (11-36-2, 2 KOs), unbeaten prospect Angelo Beltran (6-0, 4 KOs), Jerald Paclar (15-3-5, 8 KOs) is up against Jenuel Lauza (5-10, 5 KOs), Alexis Abilar (2-1, 1 KO) locks horns with Ramie Gaabon (2-13-1).
