FOLK-ROCK band Asin’s founding member Negrense Mike "Noy" Pillora Jr. is set to perform on stage at the Capitol Park in Bacolod City on April 23, 6 p.m., as announced by the Negros Cultural Foundation Inc. and the Province of Negros Occidental through Provincial Environment Management Office (Pemo).

Dubbed as “concert at the park,” Pillora will be joined by Ronabel Comawas, Krisna Bawiin, and Marlon Sipe to sing Asin’s all-time hits and new songs

Asin is a popular folk-rock band put up by a trio in 1976 that became a quartet as their popularity rose.

Pillora’s quartet Asin band members were also composed of Lolita Carbon, Cesar Beñares, Jr. as the lead vocals, and Pendong Aban Jr. was the acoustic guitarist.

Pillora has once said the relevance of their songs in raising social awareness among the Filipinos remains, saying that, “nothing has changed.”

The popular songs of Asin include “Himig ng Pag-ibig," "Masdan Mo ang Kapaligiran," "Balita," "Usok" and "Pagbabalik."

The organizers would like to invite everyone for a free concert in the park.

Asin was formed in late 1976, the nucleus of which was the duo of Mike Pillora Jr. of Negros Occidental and Cesar Bañares Jr. of South Cotabato.

Asin was the first group to incorporate Filipino indigenous instruments into pop/rock music. Their several songs went popular, including some environmental hits such as “Masdan Mo Ang Kapaligirin” and “Ang Bayan Kong Sinilangan.”
