THE session hall of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan (SP) at the south wing of Negros Occidental Provincial Capitol in Bacolod City will be the venue for the canvassing of votes in the province for the May 9, 2022 elections.

During previous elections, the canvassing was conducted at the Capitol’s Social Hall.

Commission on Elections (Comelec) Provincial Supervisor Roberto Salazar said they are preparing health protocols to be implemented on election that include the checking of the temperature at the entrance of the polling centers.

Salazar said isolation booths will be situated at the polling centers for those with temperatures more than 37 degrees celsius.

Voting will start at 6 a.m. and will end at 7 p.m., he said, adding that as long as there are voters lining-up they will be accommodated even past the voting hours.

Salazar also said that the testing and sealing of the vote counting machines (VCMs) for Negros Occidental is set on May 7 while the ballots are yet to arrive by first week of May and will be distributed to different pick-up areas across the province.

There are 2,906 counting machines for the province, Comelec records showed.

The Comelec official stressed that they are already prepared and currently conducting refresher training and additional instructions for the teachers who will serve during the elections.*
