THE municipal government of Carmen, northern Cebu has unveiled its newly-renovated town hall on Tuesday, April 19, 2022.
In a Sugbo News post, Carmen Mayor Carlo Villamor and members of his municipal council said they spent around P18 million for the renovation and preservation of its 95-year-old municipal building.
Built in 1927, it has been placed under the National Historical Institute (NHI) for its cultural significance.
As per NHI directive, the renovation works must preserve the old inscription and the two large Greek columns at the facade.
From the original design was added a rear wing which houses the council members' offices and other departments.
Cebu Gov. Gwen Garcia, her running mate Dr. Tess Heyrosa, Cebu Rep. Duke Frasco (Cebu, 5th District), Provincial Board member Red Duterte and aspiring Board member Mike Villamor were present during the blessing and unveiling of the renovated town hall.
