WITH just 17 days before the May 9 polls, registered voters now have the opportunity to identify their actual polling precincts ahead of Election Day.

This, after the Precinct Finder of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) came back online Friday, April 22, for the first time since 2016.

Registered voters may now check details of their voter registration records at https://voterverifier.comelec.gov.ph/voter_precinct.

In the website, voters are being asked to provide information, such as if they are local or overseas voters, first name, middle name, last name, and place of registration (province, city/municipality).

Earlier this month, the Comelec partnered with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

The agreement paved the way for DICT to host the Comelec's numerous online systems essential to the forthcoming elections, such as the Precinct Finder.

Back in 2016, the Comelec website was defaced and hacked, and subsequently, it resulted in the breach of sensitive voter information.

Among the functionalities that were affected are the website’s Precinct Finder, Video Demonstrations, and the Search function. (HDT/SunStar Philippines)
