THE City Health Office continued to intensify its efforts to increase the vaccination rate for coronavirus disease (Covid-19) booster shots in Zamboanga City.

The move is aimed to further enhance immunity of the populace against the dreaded Covid-19.

Dr. Dulce Amor Miravite, city health officer, said Friday, April 22, that they also employ several innovative strategies such as drive-thru, house-to-house and drop-in clinics aside from the fixed location vaccination sites to give as many fully vaccinated individuals their vaccine booster.

Miravite said they also deployed mobile vaccination teams to conduct inoculation activities in business establishments and commercial vessels for eligible workers who are otherwise unable to avail of the vaccination due to work.

Latest data of the City Health Office showed that 124,049 individuals have received their vaccine booster in the city.

They were among the 644,718 residents who already received their second dose of vaccine since the vaccination program rolled out in this city in March 2021.

Meanwhile, Miravite said they are ready to implement the second dose of vaccine booster to medical frontliners and senior citizens if the national will push through with its plan.

She said they are still waiting for the decision and guidelines from the national government. (SunStar Zamboanga)
