6,867 at May 1 job fair in Davao City, Davao del Norte

A TOTAL of 6,867 job vacancies can be applied for during the hybrid Labor Day Trabaho, Negosyo, Kabuhayan Job and Business Fair on May 1, 2022 in Davao City and Davao del Norte.

Of the 6,867 job vacancies, 5,320 are from local employers and 1,547 are overseas vacancies.

Customer service representatives and market research interviewers are the most in demand for local openings, while nurses, caregivers, and mobile crane operators are in demand overseas.

The job fair, which is spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-Davao, will be a hybrid event that will take advantage of online and walk-in registration. Applicants will be screened by a total of 78 participating employers in the region before they are selected for a face-to-face interview.

“In that regard, limited lang ang makaadto sa atong job fair venue... kung mag adto ang 6,000, 10,000 diri na jobseekers, mag guot ta (Only a limited number of applicants can proceed to the job fair venue because it will be too crowded if all thousands of applicants are present at the venue),” DOLE-Davao Assistant Director Jason Balais said in a press conference on Tuesday, April 26.

The online registration will run from April 25 to 29, while the job fair will be held simultaneously in Davao City and Tagum City on Labor Day, May 1, at NCCC Mall Buhangin for Davao City applicants and NCCC Mall Tagum for Tagum applicants.

Panabo City applicants may attend the job fair on April 29 at the Panabo Multipurpose Tourism and Sports Center, wherein walk-in registration will also be allowed.

There are 3,211 and 1,547 local and overseas vacancies available in Davao City respectively.

There are 3,211 local vacancies in Davao City available, while there are 1,320 in Panabo City, and 789 in Tagum City. Only the job fair in Davao City will have overseas jobs with 1,547 vacancies.

At the same time, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao will conduct business and entrepreneurial training during the job and business fair event, said DTI-Davao Director Maria Belenda Ambi.

“We will be providing entrepreneurship seminar for those who are interested as well as provide livelihood (learning) videos para makita ng mga constituents ng Davao Region (so constituents of Davao Region can see) that there are a lot of oportunities in going into business,” Ambi said.
