THE Western Mindanao Command (Westmincom) vowed to provide all its available assets to assist in the transportation of election materials, equipment, and other logistics requirements of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) in preparation for the national and local elections (NLE) on May 9, 2022.

"We will give our all-out support to ensure that the NLE will be successful, peaceful, and orderly. We will provide security to the polling precincts, election officials and staff, and election paraphernalia," Lieutenant General Alfredo Rosario Jr., commander of Westmincom, said Thursday, April 28.

Rosario visited Wednesday, April 27, the Joint Task Force (JTF)-Central headquarters at Camp Siongco, Awang, Datu Odin Sinsuat, Maguindanao to check on the status and concerns of the unit relative to the preparations for the forthcoming election.

Major General Juvymax Uy, of JTF-Central, presented a security briefing to Rosario regarding the unit's preparations for the May 9 polls.

Uy said there are designated personnel who will be deployed to perform election duties while others will continue performing military operations to continuously defeat the remaining members of the different terror groups in Central Mindanao.

Rosario commended the efforts of the military units under the JTF-Central for its numerous accomplishments and the unit's staunch commitment toward the realization of a peaceful and successful election.

"Let us prevent the adversaries or any private armed group to commit acts of terrorism and intimidate or coerce the citizens to exercise their right to vote. Let us protect the electorates at all cost," Rosario added. (SunStar Zamboanga)
