THE Bacolod City Council has approved a resolution urging the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa)-Prime Water to install water pipelines for potable water connections in Purok Kasuy, Barangay Estefania in the city.

The resolution authored by Councilor Renecito Novero, chairperson of the City Council committee on urban poor, housing and resettlement, was approved during their regular session on April 27.

Novero said Purok Kasuy suffers from a serious lack of potable water as there is no pipeline in their area to which the residents may conveniently attach for supply.

He said hundreds of residents in the purok were only using the water pump and it is not enough for their daily use.

“We are hopeful that the Baciwa-Prime Water will inspect the area so that they can put a water pipe there,” he said, adding that “water is very important in our daily activities.”

The official noted that it is also the program of the national government to provide safe and potable water supply, including those living in remote areas.

“Here in Bacolod City, it’s the responsibility of the water district to ensure that all Bacolodnons have access to potable water supply,” he said.
