OVER 11,600 job vacancies for local and overseas positions will be available for job seekers in various job fairs in Central Visayas on Labor Day on Sunday, May 1, 2022.
Luchel Taniza, spokesperson of the Department of Labor and Employment in Central Visayas (DOLE 7), said about 4,673 local positions were needed in the region and more than 7,000 jobs for overseas employment were available as of Friday, April 29.
She said they need about 755 customer service representatives, 500 sewing operators and about 300 skilled workers each for masonry and carpentry to fill in the local vacancies.
Taniza, on the other hand, said more than 400 nurses, 300 auditors, 240 carpenters and 200 welders, among others, are needed abroad.
Taniza said DOLE 7 is set to conduct job fairs at the Trade Hall in SM City Cebu and Lamberto Macias Sports Complex in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental as part of their activities on Labor Day.
Job seekers who are interested in joining the job fairs must bring with them their updated resume or biodata, Taniza said.
Applicants are no longer required to present their vaccination cards during the job fair unlike from the previous job fairs that they conducted amid the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic.
But they should strictly follow the minimum public health standards such as wearing of face masks and observing a safe physical distance, Taniza said.
Apart from that, interested job seekers are also encouraged to bring their own ballpen and sanitizer or disinfectant to avoid possible transmission of Covid-19.
Meanwhile, Taniza said there will also be a DOLE clinic at one of their job fair venues in SM City Cebu, which will be participated by other government agencies, to answer queries from applicants.
Representatives from various government agencies will also be there to offer their services at the government express center on the second level of the mall, she added.
Participating agencies include the Department of Trade and Industry, National Bureau of Investigation, Philippine Statistics Authority, Social Security System, Pag-Ibig, PhilHealth, Professional Regulation Commission, Philippine Postal Corporation, and Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
The job fairs are expected to start by 8 a.m. and will end at 5 p.m. on Sunday.
Taniza advised applicants to register themselves ahead online before heading to the venue for their convenience.
Aside from Central Visayas, DOLE central office is offering more than 100,000 job vacancies in various job fairs being conducted across the country during Labor Day.
In a statement, Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III said 102,426 local and overseas employment opportunities will be up for grabs in the 26 job fair sites.
He said a total of 73,671 local jobs will be offered by 817 employers.
Local jobs mostly include production operators/machine operators, customer service representatives, collection specialists, retail/sales agents/promodisers, and sewers.
A total of 28,755 overseas jobs in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Germany, Poland, the United Kingdom, Japan, Taiwan, and Singapore will also be offered by 73 recruitment agencies.
The top overseas vacancies to be offered are nurse/nurse aide; carpenter, foreman, and welder; food server; household service worker; and auditor. (MKG, HDT / SunStar Philippines)
