THE North Cebu baseball team composed of players from the municipalities of Carmen, Asturias, Sogod and Tuburan is set to play its very first major tournament since the Covid-19 pandemic put the sporting events at a standstill for two years.
The North Cebu Charter will host the Little League Baseball Philippine Series 2022 Visayas Qualifier at the Municipality of Carmen from May 14 to 21, 2022, with teams from the region slugging it out for the coveted title and the slot for the Nationals.
The competition will be in the Major League for 10 to 12 years old, Juniors League for 13 to 14 years old, and Seniors’ League for 13 to 14 years old.
North Cebu Charter president Ernesto Mangapis Jr. thanked the local government unit of Carmen for accepting the challenge to host the Visayas elimination.
Mark Arsenio Davidon said the players are excited about this tournament.
“Most of our players in the Seniors’ League are those who played in the Palarong Pambansa, the players for our juniors have experience from the Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association,” he said.
He added that a former junior player who is now a varsity in Manila is helping them out with the preparations and training.
