THE brother of the second highest town official was shot and killed by a supporter of a mayoralty aspirant in one of the towns in the province of Zamboanga Sibugay, the police reported Monday, May 2.
Police Colonel Albert Larubis, Zamboanga Sibugay Police Director, said the incident happened around 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1, in Guiwan village, Payao town.
Larubis identified the victim as Celso Indino, Sr., 47, the brother of incumbent Vice Mayor Joel Indino.
The victim was rushed but died while under treatment around 1 a.m. Monday, May 2, at the Zamboanga City Medical Center.
Larubis said investigation showed that Indino was shot by an unidentified gunman who is allegedly a supporter of mayoralty candidate Vicvic Gubat.
He said the investigation continues to establish the identity and the arrest of the suspect. (SunStar Zamboanga)
