SITG formed to solve village chairman’s slay

A SPECIAL Investigation Task Group (SITG) has been formed to immediately identify and penalize the suspects on the recent slay of San Fernando councilor bet and Barangay Alasas Chairman Alvin Mendoza.

Mendoza, who was running under the slate of mayoralty candidate Vilma Caluag, was shot dead by still unknown assailants in Barangay Magliman on Saturday morning, April 30.

Police Regional Office-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Matthew Baccay said the SITG is tasked to conduct thorough investigation and deeper probe into Mendoza’s case.

“We are looking into all angles to establish possible motives. We are exerting all means to get into the bottom of this unfortunate incident and we are gathering pieces of evidence that will lead us to the identification of the culprits,” he said.

Led by Pampanga Police Provincial Office Director Alvin Consolacion, the SITG will also be responsible in ensuring the safety of Mendoza’s bereaved family while investigation is ongoing.

Justice and prayer

Meanwhile, mayoralty candidate Vilma Caluag has called for justice on the death of Mendoza who was running under her slate.

“Hindi pa po namin alam kung ano ang anggulo o motibo sa pagpatay sa kasama namin na si Barangay Captain Alvin Mendoza pero sana ipagdasal natin siya at ang kaligtasan namin lahat,” she said.

She also prayed for the safety of their team and the whole city of San Fernando, especially that the election day is on its final stretch.

“Maraming salamat po sa inyong patuloy na pagsuporta at ang dasal po natin ay ang palaging katahimikan sa siyudad San Fernando,” she said.
