IN THE early part of the coronavirus pandemic, governments around the world have implemented lockdowns, restricting people’s mobility and confining them mostly at home.
Boredom invaded some people who were confined to their houses.
However, the restrictions on mobility were a blessing to some individuals whose untapped talents blossomed during the pandemic.
An artistic universe was born in the household of Marivic Sagario Ngo—she was able to paint at a prodigious rate.
Ngo has been able to produce 200 watercolor paintings from 2020 to 2021.
“This project started last June 2020, when I took up my daughter’s challenge to paint for 100 days. We were in the middle of the pandemic, and this became my constant and my outlet during very uncertain times,” said Ngo.
Ngo opened her first solo art exhibit, aptly dubbed “Paint-demic” (portmanteau of painting and pandemic), on April 1, 2022.
Ngo’s watercolor paintings are open for viewing at BIG Hotel’s The Gallery until May 31, 2022. Inquiries can be sent to 09177181316.
The painter has dedicated her artworks to her late father.
“This exhibit is dedicated to my father, Maximiliano Sagario, who passed away just as I began this challenge. This is for him who led me to the artistic road,” Ngo said.
