DA-Central Luzon is top performing region in PH

THE Department of Agriculture (DA) Central Luzon was awarded as the first best performing region during the first quarter of 2022 after it garnered an overall performance rating of 91.18 percent.

The ranking was based on financial and physical accomplishments of the region in contrast with other regional offices. The awarding ceremony was held last May 3, 2022, in Davao City during the Management Committee Meeting.

DA Central Luzon garnered 100-percent Financial Accomplishment, 93.82-percent Financial Accomplishment, and 68.23-percent Operations Rating. Based on the comparison of 1st Quarter Performance Rating of 2021 vs 2022, Central Luzon managed to score a 43.93-percent improvement.

Central Luzon is one of the leading growth regions in the Philippines, strategically located at the heart of Asia.

Rice is one of the region’s major crops which contributes some 18-20 percent to the country’s total rice production.

In the year 2021, the region attained a total of 3,741,210.53 metric tons (MT) rice production or 106,062.94 metric tons higher compared to 3,635,147.59 MT in the year 2020 (PSA Data) which showed an increase in the area harvested of 2.37 percent or 16,854.42 hectares.
