Development of mobile app for quick cash aid distribution sought

THE development of a mobile application where beneficiaries can submit their requirements to government agencies will expedite the processing and distribution of financial assistance (ayuda).

This is the basis of former House Speaker and senatorial candidate Alan Peter Cayetano on his call for government create a mobile application intended for processing of financial assistance.

According to Cayetano, Filipinos, especially indigent and sickly, must not have a hard time applying for a financial assistance as government funds intended to help them are regularly allocated.

He said the Department of Health, Department of Social Welfare and Development and Department of Transportation have around P5-million budget allocated for cash aid distribution.

“Nandiyan ang pera para sa ayuda, ang tanong lang ay kung paano ito padadaliin na ibigay sa tao. Ngayon may pera na kaya lang kung wala kang padrino o walang pulitiko na magpay-out, hindi ka makakakuha. Pero kung may app, magiging mabilis ang proseso. Halimbawa may reseta ka, picture-an mo lang tapos from there ay pwede na nila i-process,” he said.

Cayetano added that distribution of aid may also be done through digital wallets or vouchers to avoid long queues experienced during in-person payouts.

“Pag na-process na, pwede na nilang ipadala sa’yo whether voucher ‘yan sa pharmacy or sa e-wallet katulad ng G-Cash. Ang point lang naman dito ay kung nandyan naman ang pera, bakit papahirapan mo pa ang tao,” he said.

Cayetano, who is currently the Representative of Taguig-Pateros First District, has been pushing for the distribution of P10,000 worth of cash aid to every Filipino family.

He said the cash assistance will be a big help as Filipinos continue to grapple with the effects of the pandemic.
