SEVERAL biking groups marked Labor Day with a caravan in the City of San Fernando in support of former House Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano’s bid.

Dubbed as “1-4 Alan Bike Caravan,” the event kicked-off as early as 6 a.m. and traveled 31 kilometers to different parts of the cities.

It was led by Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and was participated in by Eco Park Bikers Group, Team Pilipinas Bikers, TEAMDONKY, at TEAMSBYB groups.

The caravan is also in support of the Cayetano’s eco-friendly campaign wherein he called on fellow candidates yo ditch the traditional printing of numerous tarpaulins and holding of motorcades which hurts the environment.

One of the participants stressed the benefit of cycling as a form of campaign as it minimizes the contribution to air pollution.

“Tama naman talaga ang sinasabi ni Congressman Cayetano. Bakit nga naman magca-caravan e makakadumi lang ng hangin? Sa ganitong pagbibisikleta namin, natulungan na namin siya, natulungan pa namin ang kalikasan,” he said.

Aside from this capital city, supporters also held a “1-4 Alan Bike Caravan” in La Union; Tarlac City; Batangas City and Lipa City in Batangas; Quezon Province; Catbalogan, Samar; Digos City, Davao del Sur; Kidapawan City, Cotabato; Zambaonga City; Nueva Ecija; and Iloilo City.

This is the fourth simultaneous nationwide caravan held for Cayetano before the May 9 elections.

As early as February 2022, Cayetano has aired his stand on conducting eco-friendly and lead-by-example method of campaign.

Instead of the holding caravans and posting of tarpaulins, he urges supporters to plant trees and establish urban farm and just maximize the use of social media for campaigning.
