1 teen drowns, 1 missing, 4 rescued in Leyte

A 16-YEAR-OLD male student died and an 11-year-old was missing after they were swept away by a strong current while swimming in the seawater along Aloha Red Beach in Palo, Leyte Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

Authorities, however, rescued their four other companions who are all minors.

The victims were all residents of the said town.

Rescue personnel rushed the 16-year-old victim to the Leyte Provincial Hospital but the latter was declared dead by the attending physician.

The other victims were already in stable condition through the application of timely cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and follow-up medical attention, according to the police.

Responding units are still searching for the 11-year-old missing student, as of Wednesday, May 4.

Authorities are investigating the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
