Dengue cases in Bacolod up by 39.1%

THE Bacolod City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit reported a 39.1 percent increase in dengue cases in the city in April 2022 compared to the same period last year.

City Health Office Environment Sanitation Division head Dr. Grace Tan said Bacolod City recorded 96 dengue cases with two fatalities as of April 23 this year.

The highly-urbanized city only had 69 cases and two deaths during the same month last year, she said.

Barangay Singcang-Airport had the most dengue cases with 10, followed by Barangays Granada, Estefania and Mandalagan with nine; Mansilingan with eight and Alijis with seven.

Barangays Sum-ag and Tangub both have six cases; Banago with five; and Pahanocoy with four.

Meanwhile, cases of leptospirosis cases in Bacolod dropped to 46.2 percent with only seven cases and two deaths reported, Tan said

The city had 13 leptospirosis cases and three fatalities during the same period last year, she said, adding that one confirmed case. (PR)
