AT LEAST two children were injured after they were hit by homemade fishing dynamite, locally known as “badil,” in Tanauan, Leyte Thursday, May 5, 2022.
Police said the victims, aged five and three years old, are residents of Barangay Sta. Cruz of the said town.
In an initial investigation, the victims were playing in front of their house by burning and lighting up things they picked using matchsticks at around 7:50 a.m. Thursday.
According to the police, the children accidentally lit the “badil” which caused it to explode.
The children were rushed to Schistosomiasis Hospital in Palo town after they sustained injuries.
They were later referred to Eastern Visayas Regional Medical Center in Tacloban City for further medical treatment.
Personnel of Tanauan Municipal Police Station, led by Lieutenant Edmer Alfonso Saavedra, are investigating the incident. (SunStar Philippines)
