SUSPECTED members of New People’s Army (NPA) shot and killed an alleged member of a robbery group past 11 p.m. Thursday, May 5, at Barangay San Jose in Sipalay City, Negros Occidental.

Killed was Raymundo Villanueva, 52 of Sitio Malipayon in the barangay, Sipalay City Police Station chief Major James Latayon, said.

Rhea Kim Villanueva, 22, daughter of the victim, told the police that the suspects, who were heavily armed, arrived and introduced themselves as military.

Villanueva said the suspects destroyed their door when they refused to let them inside their house before shooting his father causing his immediate death.

As of yesterday, Latayon said they are still looking at different angles behind the killing of Villanueva.

The police official added that they also received a report that the victim could be a member of the Villanueva robbery group led by his relative.*
