TODAY, May 9, 2022, will be an important day for the Filipino people as they decide on the next leader of the Philippines.
What makes this year’s election so important is we will decide who will lead the country in the next six years.
Hence, we hope that you have looked into the candidates you are voting for today. From October 2021, when the filing of candidacies was made, up until May 7, 2022, we had all the time to research the leaders we will be voting for. But if you are still undecided, you can always visit votepilipinas.com, “the official voter information campaign partner of the Commission on Elections.”
Based on recent surveys, both former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos, Jr. and vice president Leni Robredo are consistently in the top two. Trailing behind them are Senator Manny Pacquiao, City of Manila Mayor Iso Moreno Domagso, and Senator Ping Lacson. Also in the running are Ernie Abella, Leody de Guzman, Norberto Gonzales, Faisal Mangondato, and Jose Montemayor, Jr.
Meanwhile, for vice president, Davao City Mayor Sara Z. Duterte-Carpio have consistently kept a lead, based on surveys, against other candidates – Senator Kiko Pangilinan, Senator Vicente Tito Sotto, Doc Willie Ong, Lito Atienza, Walden Bello, Rizalito David, Manny SD Lopez, and Serapio Carlos.
As you cast your votes today, we hope that you will vote for the Philippines and not only that but a vote that gives you peace of mind. Maybe before you shade that circle, you might want to ask yourself, how do you see the Philippines in the next six years if these two persons are elected in the two highest positions? If they are the leaders, will it be a government for the people or a government to serve their own interests and their friends?
The 2022 elections are not something to take lightly. Each vote will count. Whatever direction the votes will take, it will dictate the path we will be taking as a nation in the next six years.
If you are able to vote, please vote today. Voting precincts will be open from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. today and today only.
