AT LEAST four Boracay residents were arrested by operatives of the Malay Municipal Police Station for violating the liquor ban.
Police said they were conducting a mobile patrol Sunday night, May 8, when they chanced upon the suspects having a drinking spree in a public place in Barangay Balabag, Boracay.
The four suspects were identified as Wenceslao Flores, Faustino Mangibin, Royulo Aguilar and Rusty Castillo.
They were detained at the Municipal Police Station lock-up cell as police are preparing charges against them for violation of the Omnibus Election Code.
Earlier, the Commission on Elections (Comelec)-Aklan said it has given exemption certificates to 20 establishments in Boracay Island, exempting them from the liquor ban.
The certificate of exemption comes with a condition that only foreign tourists will be served with alcoholic drinks. (SunStar Philippines)
