SunStar website: Celebrating 22nd year as home to network of community newspapers

OVER a million stories and 22 strong years later, SunStar website, at www.sunstar.com.ph, has continued to lead the hyper-competitive digital sphere by remaining committed to sustaining its core values of bringing the truth and service to Filipinos around the world.

SunStar prides itself of always putting its best foot forward despite the challenges it continues to face, like the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic and the worsening economy. It is persistent on adapting and evolving to changes while still holding its integrity under the pillars of journalism.

Election special page

This election season, SunStar website has created a special page dedicated to the 2022 national and local polls. The freshest election-related news and information can be read on www.sunstar.com.ph/phpolls, which is updated round-the-clock.

Just recently, it introduced a redesign that will make accessing sections in both desktop and mobile easier and friendlier.

The SunStar website covers 12 cities: Manila, Baguio, Pampanga and Pangasinan in Luzon; Cebu, Bacolod, Iloilo, Dumaguete and Tacloban in the Visayas; and Davao, Cagayan de Oro and Zamboanga in Mindanao, making it truly the home to the only network of community newspapers in the country.

Social media

From breaking the news to pumping out viral content, the social media channels of SunStar Cebu and its sister companies in the Philippines are some of the most trusted media outlets in the country.

From Facebook to Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and TikTok, SunStar goes wherever its audience goes, not just to expand its presence but to make sure that people get legitimate news and content worth sharing.

SunStar’s success on these channels is not measured by its visibility with its audience but how each post resonates with them.

SunStar Cebu uses the handle @sunstarcebu on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, while SunStar Philippines is @sunstaronline.

Now on TikTok

On TikTok, considered the fast-rising super-app, SunStar has so far delivered a mixed bag of relatable and relevant content that tap different generations, especially millennials and Gen Zers.

It has so far amassed over 570 million combined followers (@SunStarCebu and @SunStarDavao) and close to eight million likes.

The SunStar media network promises to bring more useful and creative short content on the platform soon.

Newspapers

SunStar, despite pandemic restraints, has remained afloat and has continued circulating its daily newspapers even during the height of the pandemic. It is committed to bringing the news everywhere.

SunStar Cebu, SunStar Davao, SunStar Bacolod and SunStar Pampanga, as well as Superbalita Cebu and Superbalita Davao remain dedicated to serving deep dives and in-depth analysis of the news and highlighting voices and perspectives that make people think.

E-paper

These papers have the digital replica known as SunStar E-papers (electronic papers). They can be read from desktop, laptop, tablets or smartphones, and can be downloaded and saved for offline reading.

In the e-paper, one can directly search for any topics or stories one wishes to read. Stories are also shareable to different social media platforms.
