THE chair used by Davao City Mayor and vice presidential candidate Sara Duterte-Carpio to vote on is set to be preserved and displayed at the Daniel R. Aguinaldo National High School (DRANHS).

After almost 10 minutes after casting her vote, the armchair she used was brought out of the polling room for her to sign it.
In a statement issued by the mayor's party, Hugpong ng Pagbabago (HNP), Duterte-Carpio said she was asked by the school officials for her written message on the armchair she used to be preserved for the school’s museum.
HNP's statement is in response to "fake and edited photos" that circulated online.
Countering these misleading posts, the vice presidential candidate said, “I wrote down ‘Mahalin natin ang Pilipinas’ (Let us love the Philippines). Then I signed my name. Then date.”
In return, the mayor said she will donate five armchairs to the school.
The school management had also preserved the chair used by President Rodrigo Duterte during the May 2016 elections.
The chair, dubbed as the "historical chair,” is currently displayed at DRANHS, sealed in glass, and displayed in the school's lobby.
DRANHS Admin Officer Margarita T. Castillo told SunStar Davao that the chair is planned to be preserved and displayed at the Museo Dabawenyo.
She said they preserved the chair used by the President, saying it is significant considering that he made history as the first Mindanawon president to be elected.
