Governor Gwen's nephew is new Barili town mayor

First-term town councilor Pablo John "John-John" Garcia IV is proclaimed as the new mayor of Barili town, southern Cebu on Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

Garcia, the son of the late Barili Mayor Marlon Garcia, secured 24,836 votes, defeating incumbent mayor Julieto "Julie" Flores who only got 20,705 votes.

Aside from Garcia, also declared winners of the town's local elections are Vice Mayor-elect Luisito "Loy" Ponsica and municipal councilors-elect Jayra Ruiz, Joshua Ricardel, Dr. Teresito Mariñas, Nelson Gingoyon, Robert Arhtur Alquizola, John Anober and Shelomith Ann Ewican.

Garcia was accompanied by his aunt, Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn "Gwen's" Garcia, and uncle, Cebu Rep. Pablo John "PJ" Garcia, when he was proclaimed on Tuesday.

Barili's Municipal Board of Canvassers (MBOC) said they are still awaiting for the final canvassing before they can declare the eighth member of the Sangguniang Panglungsod. (JKV)
