Torres wins close mayoralty race in Guagua

GUAGUA mayoralty-elect Anthony Joseph Torres won by a slim margin of 146 votes against his close rival Joe Mendoza for the mayoralty race in Guagua town, Pampanga.

Torres garnered 27,150 votes against Mendoza’s 27,004 votes according to unofficial results aggregated from the Commission on Elections (Comelec) data, as of May 10. Torres ran under the Kambilan banner.

Most of the other Kambilan line up for other mayoralty posts also made the cut. Kambilan vice-mayoralty candidate Jun Lim won by 26,695 votes against his close rival Mario Mallari who garnered 22,589 votes.

The Sangguniang Bayan will also be populated by mostly Kambilan candidates which include Roan Reyes (26,065), Michelle Rivera (25,243), lawyer Mike Mangiliman (24,382), Jovy Tulio (20,888), Eugene Ponio (20,727) and Homer Garcia (18,281).

Two Liberal Party candidates will form the minority block with Joan Carreon (29,121) and Amos Guilas (20,954).
