PNR Clark Phase 1 nears completion

CLARK FREEPORT — The first phase of the PNR Clark project, which is part of the North South Commuter Railway (NSCR), is nearing its completion, said Department of Transportation (DoTr) Secretary Arthur Tugade during an interview with DZRH Teleradio recently.

Tugade said the structure of the PNR Clark Phase 1 from Tutuban to Malolos has reached 100 percent completion.

The government is working hard to complete the project before President Rodrigo Duterte steps down from office.

Under the Build Build Build program of the Duterte Administration, the DOTR chief disclosed that the design of the NSCR was changed into an elevated railway to address the issue of right of way and other technical matters.

PNR Clark Phase 1 will connect to PNR Clark Phase 2 which runs from Malolos to Clark Freeport.

The NSCR, also known as the Clark-Calamba Railway, is a 148-kilometer urban transit system under construction in Luzon.

It will run from New Clark City in Capas town, Tarlac province to Calamba, Laguna with 36 stations.

The NSCR will be connected to the existing and future railway lines in Metro Manila such as LRT Line 1, LRT Line 2, MRT Line 3, and the Metro Manila subway.
