A male infant was found dead near the public cemetery in Barangay 8 in Victorias City, Negros Occidental at about 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 10, 2022.

Victorias City Police Station chief Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Fajardo said that the mother of the child, whose name was not disclosed, already surfaced yesterday, May 11.

Fajardo said the mother claimed that they were forced to leave the dead infant as they don’t have the financial resources to give him a proper burial.

Cemetery caretaker Reymand Tamayol, 54, of the city’s Hacienda Felecia 2 told the police that three unidentified male teenagers were in the area near the cemetery and left a few minutes later.

Tamayol said that when he checked the hole, he discovered the dead infant placed inside a box wrapped with white cloth.

Fajardo said they believed the infant died in a hospital, adding that they are yet to determine the liability of the mother for leaving her dead child.
