Davao provinces elect new leaders

DAVAO Region elected a new set of government leaders after the Commission of Elections-Davao (Comelec-Davao) local offices had finished the canvassing of votes as of May 11, 2022.

In Davao de Oro, Dorothy Gonzaga is the proclaimed governor with 226,731 votes as of May 11, based on Comelec data, while Jayvee Uy, who has served as governor for the past three years, is now proclaimed vice governor with 224,048 votes.

Maricar Zamora and Ruwel Gonzaga are the representatives of the first and second district of Davao de Oro respectively. Zamora earned 104,779 votes and Gonzaga 136,379 votes.

The new Provincial Board Members of Davao de Oro are Kol Herv Apsay, Atty. Dyud Lopoz, Willy Ang, Renato Basañes, and Eutropio Jayectin in the first district while Ruwina Gonzaga, Kris Caballero, Vinsay Secuya, Raul Caballero, and Bebot Arancon were elected in the second district.

In Davao del Norte, incumbent Governor Ediwn Jubahib was re-elected with 310,947 votes while Oyo Uy, son of former vice governor Rey Uy, is the province’s newly-elected vice governor with 286,957 votes.

Incumbent representatives Pantaleon Alvarez of the first district of Davao del Norte and Allan Dujali of the second district, were re-elected with 143,057 and 166,750 l votes respectively.

The elected provincial board members in the first district of Davao del Norte are Nickel Suaybaguio, Popo Estabillo, Tete So, Shirley Aala, and Frank Remitar, while in the second district are Popo Catalan, Jannet Tanong, Orly Amit, Dr. Lu Lu, and Mawe Pamisaran.

In Davao del Sur, the governor-elect is Yvonne Cagas with 183,697 votes. She is the wife of the incumbent governor Marc Douglas Cagas. John Tracy Cagas, meanwhile, was elected as representative of the lone legislative district of Davao del Sur, with 214,741 votes.

AiAi Cagas-Fernandez is also the vice governor-elect with 228,897 votes.

The new set of provincial board members of Davao del Sur are Cowboy Vic Cadungog, Shiela Cagas, Simplicio Latasa, Rey Ayo, and Frank Tongcos for the first district, and Merlin Bello, Carmelo Delos Cientos III, Anna Margarita Razonable, Mark Joel Gallardo, and Cowboy Lanier Cadungog for the second district.

Meanwhile, incumbent Davao Occidental vice governor Franklin Bautista was elected as the province’s governor with 102,421 votes while lone district representative Lorna Bautista-Bandiga is proclaimed vice governor with 95,565 votes, and governor Claude Bautista is now the lone legislative district representative with 106,637 votes.

For the Provincial Board Members of Davao Occidental, leading in the first district are Brett Bautista, Alberto Carlo Baliota, Ali Colina Jr., Rogelio Baribar, and Bimbo Abe. In the second provincial district are Jaja Joyce, Vicencio Almano Jr., Danilo Omicas, Jay-ar Galias, and Allen Lim.

Lastly, in Davao Oriental, the first district representative of Davao Oriental Cora Malanyaon is the new governor-elect with 237,132 votes and Niño Uy is the re-elected vice governor with 167,097 votes.

Outgoing governor Nelson Dayanghirang was chosen as the first district representative with 95,035 votes, while Cheeno Almario was the second district representative with 110,705 votes.

Provincial Board Members of Davao Oriental include Nelson Dayanghirang Jr., Tata Nuñez, Art Benjie Bulaong, Nennette Palmera, and Andy Monday for the first district. In the second district, Shella Go, Harold Montes, Richie Ravelo, Daud Linsag, and Popong Uy are included. (ICM)
