AN OFFICIAL of the National Housing Authority (NHA) reported that the lack of government funds has caused a backlog of six million housing projects in the country.

"Hindi nakakayanan ng government yong need, medyo nahihirapan tayo sa pundo. But andito na tayo sa bagong NHA under sa management ni PRRD, naningkamot gyud ang NHA na makapagbigay ng maraming (pabahay), lalong lalo na sa IPs (The government is having difficulty meeting the demand because of lack of funding; but with the new NHA management under the Duterte administration, we are doing everything we can to provide housing units, especially for the indigenous peoples (IP))," Engineer Sonia J. Bulseco, NHA District 2 Manager, said during the Wednesdays at Habi at Kape press conference at the Abreeza Mall,

Bulseco said that NHA has given free housing for all IPs, especially in Talaingod, Sto. Tomas, Davao del Norte.

Bulseco also said every housing project would cost around P20 million for 100 housing units.

NHA said that they are currently working on projects in Davao Oriental where they are building Ciudad de Dahican in Brgy. Dahican, Mati City with 500 units.

In Davao City, they have Xavier Heights (426 units) in Purok Gaudalupe, Catalunan Grande; Madayaw Residences (640 units) in NHA Kadayawan Homes, Bangkal, Barangay Talomo; and Blue Farm Villa (824 units) in Barangay Biao Escuela, Tugbok.

In Davao del Norte, Balai San Agustin (485 units) will rise in Barangay Quezon, Panabo City, while Maresca Homes (1,000 units) will be built in Barangay Cogon, Babak District, Island Garden City of Samal.

In Digos City, NHA is developing Kapyaan Heights with 762 units in Barangay Balabag.

Reservation fee for a housing unit is P20,000 while the monthly amortization is as low as P5,000.

NHA is expecting to turn over the units before year end.

The housing project of NHA aims to provide adequate and cheap housing to low-wage government workers, such as members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Philippine National Police (PNP), Bureau of Jail Management Penology (BJMP), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) and even OFWs.
