THE most wanted personality of Mandaue City, Cebu was able to bolt out from the detention facility of Talisay City Police Station in Negros Occidental at about 8 a.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022.
Talisay City Police Station chief Lieutenant Colonel Arthur Baybayan said Thursday, May 12, 2022, that Arnel Ocaña of Barangay Cabatangan pretended to have a stomach pain.
Baybayan said duty desk officer and jailer Chief Master Sergeant Pastor Antonio Celajes then assisted Ocaña and let him lie down on a steel chair at the police station’s lobby.
However, when the policeman returned after calling the City Health Office, Ocaña was no longer there.
Baybayan said he believed that Ocaña scaled through the concrete wall behind the police station.
“He could have used the container drums to climb the wall,” the police official said.
Baybayan also said they already searched the subdivision behind the police station but they did not find the escapee.
He added that they already went to Ocaña’s residence and other areas where he could hide, but they did not find him there either.
Ocaña was arrested on April 23 on the strength of an arrest warrant for rape issued by Judge Maria Dee Seares of the Family Court, Seventh Judicial Region-Branch 6 of Mandaue City.
The judge denied him bail, police records showed.
The Talisay City Police Station is asking the public to inform them right away if they see Ocaña in their area.
