AUTHORITIES are looking into the possibility that a grudge triggered the shooting of a former detainee in Barangay Vista Alegre in Bacolod City on Wednesday, May 11.
Captain Elmer Bonilla, commander of Police Station 7, said Darryl Daza, 34, of Barangay Vist Alegre, sustained wounds on his right thigh and right palm.
The suspects identified as Elizer Yaun, 34, and a certain "Leo," evaded arrest, Bonilla said.
Investigation showed that Daza was walking along Block 1 at the Abada Escay Relocation Site around 5 p.m. when the two suspects blocked his way.
Daza said the suspects shot him using an unidentified caliber of firearm without provocation and fled.
He said he managed to run toward a nearby residence to seek help.
The victim was brought to the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital. He is now in stable condition.
Bonilla said Daza was previously arrested for robbery and theft.
He said that in April 2022, he was also tagged as the suspect in the killing of his neighbor Edgar John Mendoza, 36.
He, however, denied the accusations.
