SAN SIMON - After serving their purpose as campaign materials, the tarpaulins of local candidates from this town were upcycled into ecobags.

Supporters of reelected Mayor Abundio “JP” Punsalan initiated the removal and collection of campaign tarpaulins of their slate immediately after the conclusion of the election.

To maximize their use, one of Punsalan’s supporters volunteered to repurpose them into an ecobag.

Punsalan said all repurposed ecobags will be given away for free to Simonian market-goers at the town’s public market in the coming days.

The reelected mayor also called on his fellow candidates to help the local government with the removal and collection of the campaign materials.

The collected tarpaulins should be brought to the town’s material recovery facility, where volunteers will pick them up for repurposing.

Punsalan’s call is an echo of his first order after his first election in 2019 wherein several ecobags were also upcycled from campaign materials.
