THE Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV) noted a 1.61 percent mismatch between the election returns (ERs) and the transparency server for the 2022 elections.
Commission on Elections spokesperson John Rex Laudiangco said out of the 45,135 ERs received by the PPCRV, 30,727 have already been encoded.
Of the total encoded ERs, 30,235 matched, while 240 did not.
Laudiangco said there is nothing to worry about the variance as it will not affect the result of the election.
PPCRV chairperson Myla Villanueva said the mismatch could be due to human error.
“I wanted to caution on the 1.6 percent mismatch. It doesn't mean that it is the whole ballot that’s not matching. Sometimes, you know, a volunteer is tired and may have had a typo because we matched this two times over,” she said in a television interview on Monday, May 16, 2022.
Villanueva said they will review and validate the mismatches.
Earlier, Laudiangco maintained the inexistence of electoral fraud in the just concluded 2022 national and local elections, saying the Comelec performed its functions within the bounds of the law and election rules.
He said that even the PPCRV, an independent election watchdog, testified about the accuracy of the polls. (SunStar Philippines)
