Peryahan ng Bayan, illegal numbers game remains suspended

THE Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) reiterated on Monday, May 16, 2022, that the operation of “Peryahan ng Bayan” and the illegal numbers game is still prohibited in accordance with the order of President Rodrigo Duterte.

DILG Secretary Eduardo Año made the pronouncement after receiving numerous reports that the Peryahan ng Bayan and illegal numbers game are back in operation in several areas across the country.

“Suspendido pa rin po ang operasyon ng Peryahan ng Bayan kaya inaatasan ko ang PNP na ipagpatuloy ang maigting na kampanya para supilin ang lahat ng uri ng illegal gambling, kasama na ang PnB,” he said.

Año said operators are invoking the writ of execution issued by Pasig Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 161 on January 24, 2020 that allows them to operate.

The said court, however, recalled its order about a month after it was issued in accordance with the memorandum issued by Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea and the urgent manifestation filed by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office.

“The DILG takes note of the recall order issued by the court. Unless the said order is overturned by the same court or court of higher jurisdiction, the recall order is effective and should be implemented. Hence, the operations of Peryahan ng Bayan are still suspended,” said Año. (SunStar Philippines)
