A MASSIVE reshuffling of personnel will be implemented at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) once the election banning period is over.
This was confirmed yesterday, May 17, by Nocppo spokesperson Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, saying that overstaying chiefs of police will certainly be transferred.
Aside from the number of years stayed in a police station, Donasco said, the performance of a police chief will also be considered for his relief and transfer.
“Deliberation will be conducted (and) we are looking into the correct process (based) on (Philippine National Police) manuals and circulars,” she said.
Under PNP rules, chiefs of police can only stay in their posts for at least two years before they will be relieved.
Meanwhile, Donasco said that the intensified police visibility and operations are among the reasons why Nocppo had the most confiscated guns during the gun ban period.
Records from Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 showed that of the 115 firearms seize during the implementation of the Commission on Elections (Comelec) gun ban, 42 are from Negros Occidental.
Nocppo also had the highest number of persons arrested at 68 from 61 operations it conducted, the PRO-6 records also showed.
Nocppo also topped the list with the most wanted personalities arrested in Western Visayas as of last month.
Of the 83 most wanted personalities arrested in the entire region last month, 32 were caught in Negros Occidental.
Two hundred forty-six out of 430 other wanted personalities in the region were also nabbed in the province.
Donasco said the success in the arrest of the wanted persons and those with arrest warrants can also be attributed to the support of the community, who gives them information about their whereabouts.*
