FOLLOWING the announcement of outgoing Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio that her oath-taking as vice president will take place in Davao City, the Davao City Police Office (DCPO) is intensifying its security measures for the historic event.

DCPO spokesperson Police Major Maria Teresita Gaspan told SunStar Davao in an ambush interview that they have yet to determine the final venue of the oath-taking since Duterte-Carpio has only announced that the event will be held on June 19.

However, she said they are already preparing the security plan, particularly on the number of security personnel to be deployed at the venue.

"More than the standard na security plan ang pagahimuon kay dako siya na event (The security plan will be more than the standard since it is a huge event)," Gaspan said.

She also said they are likewise anticipating the presence of outgoing President Rodrigo Duterte at the oath-taking of his daughter. However, this has yet to be determined.

The mayor also did not mention if the President will be personally attending the inauguration.

Gaspan, meanwhile, reminded attendees that backpacks and wearing of jackets are prohibited.

She also discouraged parents from bringing their children to the event.

Duterte-Carpio bared in a radio interview on Monday, May 16, that the target date for her oath-taking is June 19 after she will be proclaimed winner by Congress.

The date for her inauguration, she said, was slated at an earlier schedule so she could personally attend the oath-taking of her running mate, presumptive President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos, Jr.

The mayor said she intends to have her local supporters in the city to witness her inauguration.
