P1.3-M cash bets seized from illegal gambling since January 1

MORE than P1.3 million worth of cash bets have been confiscated by police from illegal gambling activities in Central Luzon since the start of 2022.

In a report released Thursday, May 19, Police Regional Office-Central Luzon Director Brigadier General Matthew Baccay said a total of 886 operations on anti-gambling have been launched in the region since January 1.

The said stings resulted in the arrest of 3,878 individuals and recovery of P1,354,967 cash bets, Baccay added.

To sustain the fight, the PRO-Central Luzon chief ordered all commanders to continuously take action on illegal gambling operations.

"Gambling addiction like illegal drugs that robs the rationality of a person both young and old as it affects both his potential and productivity. It causes a threat to the community when an individual is forced to do something to sustain his/her gambling addiction," he said.

He also warned all PRO-Central Luzon personnel that those found involved in any illegal gambling activities will be meted with appropriate administrative and criminal charges.
