Korean Embassy resumes tourist visa issuance in PH

FILIPINOS can soon revisit South Korea after the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Philippines announced that it will resume the application and issuance of all types of visas, including tourist, starting June 1, 2022.

“Application and issuance of all types of visa, including tourist (C-3-9) will resume,” the notice posted on the Korean Consulate in Cebu’s website read.

Aside from resuming the application and issuance of visas, the South Korean Embassy said that unexpired multiple-entry visas issued before April 5, 2020, could be used without re-application.

The embassy also announced the submission of the Consent for Isolation would no longer be required.

It expressed hope that the resumption of visa issuance and application would boost tourism between the two Asian countries amid the Covid-19 pandemic.

“More and more Koreans have been visiting the Philippines since the Philippine government lifted its ban on tourism. Soon more and more Filipinos will visit Korea,” it said.

“We hope that this resumption will boost people-to-people exchanges between Korea and the Philippines via tourism,” the embassy added.

Filipinos planning to travel to South Korea are reminded that health protocols for testing and the quarantine for the unvaccinated against the coronavirus are still in effect.

Fully vaccinated individuals entering South Korea no longer have to quarantine but must submit a negative pre-departure RT-PCR or lab-based antigen test. (CSL)
