THE city-owned City College of Davao (CCD) will prioritize students from low income families as it opens enrollment in June 2022.
“Possible talaga they are working students, ALS (Alternative Learning System) graduates, LAP (Late Afternoon Program) graduates, IP(Indigenous People) learners, tapos merong certification dapat ang kanilang parents is not more than P60,000 ([We will prioritize] working students, ALS graduates, LAP graduates, and IP Learners. Their parents should have certification stating that their salary is not more than P60,000),” Fred Cagape said, CCD OIC President, said in an interview with PTV.
CCD will offer the following courses based on the conducted feasibility study; Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Bachelor of Mechanical Technology, and Bachelor of Science in Entrepreneurship.
Cagape said they will also add Business Administration, Bachelor of Science Education (Science and Math), and Bachelor of Elementary Education (Science and Math) if they will be able to comply with the requirements at CHED.
The CCD is expected to accept 1,000 enrollees this June for the opening of its classes in August 2022.
Councilor Pilar Braga, Committee on Education, Science and Technology Chairperson, added that the preparation for the CCD is already 95 percent done as well as its compliance with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) requirements.
“We’re just streamlining some of the requirements... Many challenges since this is the first time and the first opening so natural lang to, normal lang nga daghan pa mi dapat himoon,” Braga said.
Meanwhile, the said campus is temporarily set at the Seminary School in Barangay Catalunan Pequeno, Davao City while the permanent site will be in a 5-hectare property of the Bureau of Plant Industry (BPI) near the University of the Philippines-Mindanao (UP-Mindanao) in Bago Oshiro in Mintal, Tugbok District.
