FIVE members of the Bacolod City Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) will tender their resignation by last week of June 2022 before the start of the administration of City Mayor-elect Alfredo Benitez.

BAC chairman, Maphilindo Polvora said their resignation is due to the fact that their positions are co-terminus with that of outgoing Mayor Evelio Leonardia.

Polvora said it is the prerogative of the new administration to select the new members of BAC committee, who would replace them as stipulated under law.

“It’s also part of the transition to turn over all the documents to the incoming administration,” he said.

Meanwhile, the BAC will now resume the conduct of bidding of various projects that were earlier postponed due to the election banning.

Once they receive the documents, they will conduct the bidding process right away especially if it is already scheduled, Polvora stressed, adding that they are ensuring that all the procedures are complied with.

But as of Friday, May 20, 2022, he has not been informed yet by the BAC secretariat regarding the list of items that are subject for bidding.

Polvora noted that for the second quarter of the year, normally the city was conducting bidding for a specific project.

“Before the election, we have some pending biddings because of the election period and since it’s over (election banning), as scheduled we will conduct the bidding,” Polvora said.
