JOINT operatives on Thursday, May 19, 2022, confiscated some P206,000 worth of cannabis hash oil during a controlled delivery operation along Lane R, Bonifacio Global City.

The consignee/claimant was identified as Ernest John Ferrer Almazan, 36, male, married, and resident of Ocampo Street, Pio Del Pilar, Makati City.

The parcel containing hash oil emanated from Monterey Park, USA, and arrived at the Port of Clark on May 9, 2022.

"The illegal substances were contained in three glass bottles and were declared as Drinking Tea. The parcel underwent the process of x-ray, K9 sniffing and field examination using Rigaku Progeny that led to its discovery," the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said.

Hash is the most potent and concentrated form of cannabis. It contains high levels of tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), much higher than marijuana.

Seized from Almazan was the subject parcel containing more or less 2.7 liters of marijuana hashish oil with an estimated street value of P216,000.

The operation was jointly conducted by operatives led by PDEA-Central Luzon, PDEA Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, Bureau of Customs-Port of Clark, PDEA-National Capital Region, and the local police.

A charge for violation of section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Article II of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the arrested consignee. (JTD)
