Group: Wage hike too small to offset inflation

THE Anakpawis Party-list said the recent wage increase is too small to offset inflation or pull up the real value of the minimum wage.

The P33-increase for National Capital Region (NCR) minimum wage is way below the P51-difference between the nominal NCR P537 minimum wage and its real value of P486.65 based on 2018 prices.

The National Wage and Productivity Commission (NWPC) pegged the average productivity or the gross domestic product per employed person at P423,408 in 2018, or a daily average of P1,416 on a 299-working day year.

The biggest is for the industry sector at P682,901 or P2,283 per day.

For NCR, in 2017 based on 2000 prices, it was at P614,293 or P2,054 per day.

Casilao urged the workers in the country and people to support the enactment of House Bill No. 246 or the P750 National Minimum Wage.
