NEGROS Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Sunday, May 22, that he will consult with the mayors in the province the possibility of lifting the 11 p.m. to 4 a.m. curfew.

Lacson made the pronouncement after some businessmen aired their sentiments that the Provincial Government should already lift the curfew being imposed in the province.

Citing the decrease in coronavirus disease (Covid-19) cases in the province, the businessmen said it is high time to lift the curfew.

Data from the Provincial Incident Management Team (PIMT) showed that there are only seven active cases in Negros Occidental as of May 21, 2022.

But records from the Department of Health (DOH) in Western Visayas showed that Negros Occidental has 110 active Covid-19 cases as of Sunday, May 22.

From 40,385 confirmed cases, the line agency reported 38,741 recoveries and 1,512 deaths in the province excluding Bacolod City.

Asked if the implementation of the curfew in the province has helped bring down the Covid-19 cases, the governor said, "I believe every measure we took contributed to where we are right now."
